Begin by first getting introduced to your instructor, Manan Jain, a computational designer trained in Barcelona, who has been teaching Grasshopper to students and professionals since the past 5 years. Develop the basics of what computational design in Grasshopper means to create a foundation for the rest of the course.
Next, get familiar with the interface, and learn about components, which are the building blocks of Grasshopper. Understand some basic components that you’ll use often while working with the program.
Move into understanding how to work with curves and surfaces, and the various components associated with them. Model a twisting tower and diagrid structure to explore the nascent possibilities of Grasshopper.
Once the basics are covered, start to get familiar with Data Structures, which forms the background logic of all computational design processes in Grasshopper. Finally, take your skills to the next level by exploring intermediate level concepts of Attractors, using the Lunchbox plugin, and modelling from scratch the Absolute Towers by MAD Architects.
Conclude with a congratulatory note from Manan on how to put your newly developed skills to use, and further ways to explore this powerful tool.
